How it works
Four exits from quote to driveway
You deal with one dispatcher from booking to delivery. Here's what happens at each step.
- EXIT 1
Price it
Enter your route and vehicle. The quote uses current carrier pay for that lane plus fuel and season, so it's a number carriers will actually accept.
- EXIT 2
Book a carrier
We post your load and assign a carrier with active authority and cargo insurance. You get the driver's name, phone and pickup window.
- EXIT 3
Pickup
The driver inspects the car with you, records its condition on the Bill of Lading with photos, and loads it.
- EXIT 4
Delivery
Check the car against the Bill of Lading, sign, and take your keys. Any balance owed is settled at delivery.

Before you book
How much does it cost to ship a car?
For a running sedan on an open carrier, about $775 for a short regional trip like Dallas to Houston and about $2,205 coast to coast from Los Angeles to New York. Your price depends on distance, vehicle size, trailer type, fuel, season and how busy the route is. The quote tool prices all of these for your exact route.
How long does car shipping take?
Carriers cover roughly 350 to 500 miles a day. Los Angeles to New York takes about 6–10 days after pickup, and Dallas to Houston about 1–2 days. Pickup is usually within 1 to 5 business days of your first available date.
Should I choose open or enclosed transport?
Open transport is the standard for everyday cars and costs less. Enclosed transport protects classics, exotics, new luxury cars and low-clearance vehicles from weather and road debris. From Dallas to Chicago it costs about 42 percent more than open.
Is my car insured during transport?
Carriers are required to carry cargo insurance, and your car is covered by the carrier's policy while it's in their care. We confirm active authority and insurance before assigning a carrier, and you can ask for the certificate. Note any damage on the Bill of Lading at delivery.
Can I pack personal items in my car?
Many carriers allow a small amount, often up to 100 lbs in the trunk, but personal items aren't covered by cargo insurance. Ask your dispatcher before packing anything.
Do I need to be there for pickup and delivery?
You or someone you choose, 18 or older, needs to hand over the keys and sign the Bill of Lading at both ends.
How is my quote calculated?
Your price starts with estimated carrier pay for your route, meaning what carriers accept for similar loads right now. It's adjusted for vehicle size, trailer type, fuel, season and route, then a flat booking fee is added. Pricing at market rate is what gets a load picked up quickly instead of sitting on the load board.
