The route
Western and southwestern Ohio loads take I-75 all the way, through Lexington, Knoxville and Atlanta to Florida's Gulf Coast. Columbus pickups come down I-71 to Cincinnati and join it there. Columbus to Orlando is 937 miles.
Cleveland and Akron cars either take I-71 to Cincinnati for I-75 or run I-77 through West Virginia and Charlotte toward the Atlantic side of Florida. Both are major carrier routes, so pickups in all of Ohio's big metros are routine.
When to book
Southbound demand peaks from October through January: Columbus to Orlando is about $1,425 for a November pickup and $1,300 in April. In December, lake-effect snow east of Cleveland can push a pickup back a day.
Good to know
If you're in the snow belt east of Cleveland, give your dispatcher a backup meeting spot on a main road. Drivers won't load on an unplowed side street, and a plowed lot keeps your pickup on schedule.
